It’s time today to make a new list.
Let’s start by writing down every bad thing about your life.
Yes, every bad thing. Don’t omit a one. Long or short, keep writing until they are all on your list. Then, using the brightest marker you can find, draw a line through each one and write, “Banished by the power of God!”
Isaiah 35:7-8 in the NIV tells us:
The burning sand will become a pool, the thirsty ground bubbling springs.
That rough place in your life, that desert experience … it will become a spring of good things, a well-waters place, and outpouring of blessing into your life.
In the haunts where jackals once lay, grass and reeds and papyrus will grow.
People and experiences that have robbed you of joy will no longer be allowed into your life. Where pain once thrived, God will plant soft grasses, and you will thrive in his cushion of blessings.
And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way.
Where you have stumbled, taken wrong turns, and missed the mark, you will be provided with direction. God will take your hand, lead you into a place of security, and you will never be left alone.
The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.
God will remove any bad influences from your life. Do not regret those God removes from you but rejoice in your spiritual siblings that walk at your side.
God desires you to be wrapped in his love. We need to mentally cast out those old hurts that drag us down. They are no more, because God says he has a new beginning for us.
So, claim the power of God over each one, then tear them into tiny shreds, toss them on the trash heap, chuck them in to the fire, and rejoice in the forgiving love of our mighty God.
