God Flips the Tables

Mean people, we all have to deal with them.

You grow flowers in your yard, and a neighbor complains about the pollen.

You take the dog for a walk, and a driver yells at you to get out of the road.

Then the serious stuff comes our way.

We are involved in an accident, and we get slapped with a lawsuit.

A scammer steals our credit information and runs up our balances.

Our spouse makes a serious life mistake, and we must bear the shame.

We are the one suffering, and we’ve done nothing to deserve it! Rather, we’ve lived a righteous life before the world, and yet we are being pummeled with dirt.

Why, God, why?

God gives us his answer in Deuteronomy 23:5 (NIV):

"However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you."

God turned the curse into a blessing! How is that for flipping the tables?

Social media recently reported the story of a young woman in the banking field who boarded an airplane only to find a child in her assigned seat. She showed the parents her ticket and waited patiently until her seat was cleared. Unknown to her, another passenger began recording the event and posted it with negative comments.

After returning home, the young woman endured personal threats and the loss of her job as a result.

Mean people, indeed.

Yet, the tables turned when supporters exploded her online presence. She was able to move into her dream job as a full-time social influencer, making more money than ever before.

That’s what God will do for you.

Those flowers? You will win an award for the most-improved yard. You will improve your health by walking your dog. The judge will award you a substantial judgement in your lawsuit. The bank will reverse the charges, and you will receive accolades for standing by your spouse during a time of extreme difficulty.

God will turn your situation around.

Why?

“Because the Lord your God loves you."

Now’s your time. Now’s your day. Place your trust in your Heavenly Father, and he will flip the tables for you.

Count on it, count on it … he will turn your curse into a blessing.

You can count on it, because his Word says it is true.
