Resolution Solution

January.

The new year. You determined that this time you would stick to your resolutions, and you’ve already let yourself down.

Or let your spouse down, your children, maybe, and you’ve even had enough time to let your work resolutions shatter and fall to the wayside.

And that resolution to improve your diet, perhaps take off a few pounds? You never thought that was possible, so you never even started.

Arrrrgh! This year’s not starting out to be any better than last year!

God says otherwise in Job 8:7 (NASB):

“Though your beginning was insignificant, yet your end will increase greatly.”

We know the story of Job. Wealthy beyond measure, with loving family around him … Job was living the life.

Then the worker of evil took it all away. Satan. The devil, the fallen angel who was once the companion of God. The despicable one who wants all good men and women to fall into the crevass of darkness never to return.

Yeah, that devil.

Job lost everything. E.V.E.R.Y. thing. He only had his life and his wife left. He had reason to whine.

Yet we read, “… Your end will increase greatly.”

How, you ask. If I can’t do this, if I continually break every resolution, that’s not getting better. It’s failing and failing and failing.

God says, “I will provide!” Read in Isaiah 43:19 (NLT):

“For I am about to do something new.  See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness.  I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”

Look for the good. Throw away the bad. Place your feet in the footsteps of Jesus, and you will have the best year you’ve ever had.

You can count on it!
