Memory is 20/20.
We can pick and choose … and toss away what we don’t like.
We remember how sweet the ice cream was but forget the dirty wheels on the ice cream truck.
That day at the lake? Swimming! Fried chicken! But we let the mosquitoes and the scratches from all the thorns fade into nothing.
Our childhood … the innocence and purity … were there really no squabbles? Fights on the playground? Times when we were so angry at our parents we wanted to run away?
Sneaky things we did that now we regret?
How about in the church? Are today’s youth really going to the dogs? Is the church really about to crumble into the annals of history, never to be remembered?
Ecclesiastes 7:10 tells us:
“Say not, ‘Why were the former days better than these?’”
The church is just coming to the heights of God’s goodness. The best is just ahead. God wants us to catch the vision of what he has for us to do.
In his book, Igniter of Faith, David Yanez says that we need to ignite the atmosphere for miracles to happen! In traveling throughout India and Africa, it was people who envisioned the power of God that received the miracles of God. Yanez relates innumerable examples of God’s power flowing unto those with faith in Christ.
Our new mantra must become, “Today is the best part of history.” Our faith in God will make it so!
