Our Worth to God

Do you sometimes feel like a blade of grass? A million other people are crowding your space, and just when you’re starting to get ahead, something comes along and chops you back?

You’re at square one all over again, and you must begin again.

On January 1, 2022, the world’s population edged just below 8 billion people, with an extra two people added every two seconds.

Is it any wonder you feel lost in the crowd? Eight billion people taking a breath and letting it out twelve times a minute … using up the world’s air … using up our air … and, oh, no, here comes the lawnmower again!

Whoa! Before we leap off the deep end, let’s turn to Psalm 147:4.

“He counts the numbers of the stars; He gives names to all of them.”

This verse helps us put ourselves in perspective. We currently have 8 billion people on Earth, but there are 100 billion galaxies in the universe (or more!). If each galaxy has 100 billion stars … well, just whoa! We can’t even conceptualize that many stars.

Our verse in Psalms says God has named each one. 100 billion X 100 billion. And God knows each one individually.

God counts the numbers of the stars … and gives names to all of them.

Do you think he knows me … and you … and our troubles and struggles?

Yeah, likely. With all those stars that he has named, and he sent Jesus his Son to our tiny world to bring salvation to you and me.

That’s pretty special. We’re pretty special. What God has done for us is pretty special.

That lawnmower? It’s like a second chance. Jesus is calling your name. Reach out to him and let him lift you into your future through his grace and love.

Christ knows each of us by name. We are special to him.
