Are you afraid to open your blinds?
Is your mailbox empty of anything that matters?
Do you even remember the last time your doorbell rang?
It seems life consists of losing things that we value. Youth. Possessions. Friends. Financial security.
We post on our social media account, “Anyone out there?”
We feel the richness of life, the joy of living, the companionship of friends and family has evaporated. We are bankrupt in our heart.
Why bother crawling out of bed, we moan, as we turn the alarm off once again.
God says, “Chin up! I remember your name. I know who you are. I am there for you in the dark and the light, in the bad and the good, in the times of lack and the times of plenty.”
Read of God’s promise in Psalm 9:18:
“For the needy shall not always be forgotten, and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever.”
Has your joy account become drained? You are not forgotten.
Have your investments in your friends gone topsy-turvy? God is your hope.
Has your family depleted your emotional accounts? You may be poor at the moment, but God’s investment in you will yield bountiful rewards.
Look up, look up. Your God is on the horizon, and your turnabout is on the way.
You are never without a friend when you walk with the Lord.
