Where is God’s hope to be found when the storms of life whip around us?
Deluges of desperation threaten to drown us.
Hailstones of hopelessness pummel us black and blue.
We groan at the dark clouds rising around us and pray for a vision of blue skies and sunshine.
Our hope awaits us. Read in Colossians 1:3-5:
“We always thank God [for] your faith in Christ Jesus and … because of the hope laid up for you in heaven.”
How do we reveal this hope? Can we access it here on earth?
God says, “Of course, my treasured child. My hope is for you now and always.”
- Psalm 42:11 promises our hope through praise to the Father.
- 1 Peter 1:21 tells us our salvation is our hope in Jesus.
- 1 John 3:3 assures us our hope in God purifies us in the Lord.
- Proverbs 14:32 is our guarantee of hope through a God-filled life.
- Psalm 71:5 offers God as our hope from our youth.
The devil wants us to think the storm will last forever. NOT SO!
From the beginning of time, God knew the situations we would face, and he prepared our hope and rescue.
Jesus is the answer. The cross is the process. We are the reason.
Our hope in God flows to us when we hold out our hand to release Jesus from the cross.
