The morning isn’t always a friend.
At times we’re tired when we climb in bed, and the breaking of the dawn sky doesn’t change that.
The problem isn’t physical, or at least it doesn’t start out that way. Certainly, tiredness is in our bones, our muscles, and in every movement we make. We ache, can hardly sit up, and barely force ourselves through the day. Yet, the problem runs deeper.
We’ve scraped the bottom of our emotional barrel. Our reserve is exhausted. Too many things have battered us too many times, and the prospects of facing them again is overwhelming.
Psalm 105:4 gives us our first step out of our despair.
“Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!”
This isn’t a quick fix. What it does is allow us to focus on something positive. We begin to change our outlook away from our situation and onto something bigger than ourselves.
Proverbs 3:6 tells us God will become our guide.
“In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
His presence will nudge us in the right direction, brighten our outlook on the world, and keep us from chasing after those things that pull us down.
Proverbs 11:25 gives us a salve to mend our hurts.
“Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.”
Stepping outside of our problems and finding ways to help others is the best fix for our emotional stress. Even doing small things to improve the lives of those around us will trigger positive changes in our outlook on life.
We will find new strength infused in each morning, a brighter outlook we didn’t know we could attain.
When Christ comes first, the rest of our life becomes better.
