A massage might make for a relaxing moment after a stressful day, but add hot stones to the mix, and we feel like we have enjoyed a few minutes of heaven while still right here on earth.
All that from just a hot stone massage. We are cleansed from stress and worry, our muscles are relaxed, and we feel we can face the world once again.
Jesus had chosen twelve smooth stones, ready to cleanse the world from the stress of sin. His stones were his disciples, and they were to be an extension of his power, the hot stones added to his ministry that would help bring a little bit of heaven down on earth for those whose lives they touched.
Even so, in Matthew 10:1, we read where the Master had greater things for his twelve smooth stones to do. He called them together, and with the power given to him by the Father above, Jesus empowered the Twelve to cast out unclean spirits and to heal all manner of sickness and disease.
The smooth stones chosen by Jesus were no longer just to bring about a little bit of heaven on earth. They had been changed. They had become Cleansing Stones. They had received power from the Almighty to cleanse people’s hearts and to heal their bodies.
Much better than a hot stone massage, wouldn’t you say?
God wants us to make the world better, but even more importantly, he desires us to be vessels of his power, so that others may be cleansed of their sins and their infirmities.
