3 Steps to Deal with Anxiety

Anxiety is a soul-robber. A thief. A stealer of our joy in Christ.

When anxiety shadows our days, we can no longer find peace, our relationships become strained, and our days are unbearable.

THAT’S NOT THE WAY TO LIVE.

Philippians 4:6–7 (NIV) tells us:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

We know this passage, but do we truly know it? Let’s break it down to see what it really tells us.

Step 1: We choose to let our anxiety go.

The passage says, “Do not be anxious about anything.” This tells us we can choose to be anxious or not.

Step 2: We must present our requests to God.

Which requests? Those in every situation. How? By Prayer and petition. With what attitude? Thanksgiving.

Step 3: We let ourselves be shrouded in the  peace of God.

This peace which we choose to accept is beyond our understanding, yet it guards our hearts and minds through our relationship with Jesus.

Choice, choice, choice. Take the first step. Choose the peace of Christ. Then let him have control over your problems, and finally, give in to God’s peace. He wants to offer it to you. He only desires that you choose to accept it.

Anxiety banished. Peace takes its place. We live in harmony with the Lord.

This can be your life. It’s your choice. Accept his peace today.
