Broken Bodies Healed

Healing.

Can we have it? Or is it something that’s only for the lucky few?

Let’s jump directly into the Word and see what Proverbs has to say.

Proverbs 3:7-8 are our go-to verses for the day:

“Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.”

The first thing we must understand is that this verse isn’t an incantation of power, one that if we wave it over our illnesses, they will evaporate.

This is a guideline to healthful living practices that can fulfil our goal of a life lived to its fullest potential. So, let’s break it down to see how we can make use of these two verses.

Guideline No. 1:

Do not be wise in your own eyes.

Seek expert advice and follow it. If you use the Internet, double check that the information you find comes from a qualified source. No fads, no hacks, no quack cures. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Guideline No. 2:

Fear the Lord.

Moderation. Avoid harmful substances. Biblical instructions for health care are there for a reason. What you take into your body affects you for years to come.

Guideline No. 3:

Shun evil.

This is a no brainer. Cigarettes. Misuse of drugs. Overindulgence of alcohol and certain foods. These will tear your body down.

Guideline No. 4:

This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

Regular exercise, a wide variety of healthy foods, and attention to expert advice. Health to your body and nourishment to your bones. This is our goal.

Can everyone enjoy perfect health for a lifetime? The Word promises healing, not perfect health. We have a part to play, as given to us in Proverbs 3:3-8.

Let’s strap on our workout boots and get on the journey to better health today.
