So, you’re ready to tie the knot.
Or perhaps you’ve tied it, but you feel the knot becoming frazzled.
Maybe you’ve even begun the untying process. You think there’s nothing to be done for your marriage now.
The Bible says WAIT. No matter where you are in the process, you can enjoy a continuing, better marriage, one that can be a success for you, your spouse, and everyone else involved.
Here are 7 Marriage Guidelines from the Bible to point your relationship to a successful future.
Marriage Guideline No. 1:
Proverbs 5:15 says to stay within the bounds of your marriage.
“Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.”
Marriage Guideline No. 2:
1 Corinthians 7:3 says to be kind to one another.
“Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.”
Marriage Guideline No. 3:
Ephesians 5:25 says a Christ-like love is vital between spouses.
“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.”
Marriage Guideline No. 4:
1 Timothy 5:8 says we must take care of our spouse financially.
“But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”
Marriage Guideline No. 5:
Ephesians 5:28 says one spouse cannot be more important than the other.
“So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.”
Marriage Guideline No. 6:
Ephesians 5:31 says our spouse takes precedence over our parents and siblings.
“For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.”
Marriage Guideline No. 7:
Ephesians 5:33 says we must be on an equal footing in every part of our marriage union.
“Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.”
Go ahead and tie that marriage knot. Firm up the loose ends. Chuck the divorce proceedings and rediscover why you fell in love in the first place.
You can do this. God’s Word tells you how. The next step is up to you.
Step out on the Word. Your success is within your grasp.
