There’s no doubt about it. God says family is important.
Children rock the house.
Brothers and sisters are silver and gold.
Our family members are the people who make our life a treasure.
Let’s see how the Bible says it.
Exodus 20:12 tells us our family is the key to a long, prosperous life.
“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.”
Joshua 24:15 says we find success as a team.
“And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Proverbs 22:6 sets out our duty to train our children from an early age.
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Psalm 68:6 is our guarantee that our family is a gift from the Lord.
“God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.”
Psalm 133:1 assures us we will live a better life with our family than without.
“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!”
The next time you have a barbecue, invite your brothers.
Pool party? All your sisters can join in.
An outing at the lake? Your parents should be there.
The amusement park? Don’t forget your nephews and nieces.
Your family bonds are the best you have. Keep them strong. They are gifts from God above.
When we get along with our family, we set an example of Christ before the world.
