It’s natural to avoid conflict.
We want to go along to get along. Who can understand the person who creates disruption just to get a rise out of people?
There’s enough trouble for today without trying to include the problems of tomorrow.
Sometimes, we must put off our relaxation today and apply ourselves to tomorrow. Living our life for today can easily snowball and bring an avalanche of despair on us in the future.
Let’s see how the Word says it in Proverbs 6:6-8:
“Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.”
Summer’s our easy time. Who can be bothered with the cold of winter when the beach is calling our name?
To put it differently, who can be bothered saving for retirement, when we want to party now? Worry about a college fund when we want a new boat? Who cares about preventive maintenance when we would rather be at a barbecue?
For the Christian, we must teach our children while they are young, so they won’t forget the truth of Christ when they become immersed in the world.
Christ is our purpose, and we find our rest and relaxation in the success we achieve through him.
