We want our children to be a reflection of us.
Well, parts of us, the good parts we don’t mind sharing with the world.
It’s that “do as I say and not as I do” thing that’s so easy to fall back on. It’s easier to tell our children how to live than it is to show them the way we should live.
Proverbs 21:21 shows us the path we should set our feet on, if we want to raise children we can be proud of.
“Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.”
There’s the example we should set for our children. It’s a two-step process, and if we follow it, our kiddos will turn out right as rain.
First, we must live in a right manner. Pay our taxes. Follow the traffic laws. Not cheat our employees… You’re getting it!
Second, be kind in all things. Be nice to the server at the restaurant. Even when the service is poor. Even when we don’t like the food. Be kind. In all things. To everyone… This one’s harder, isn’t it?
If we do these two things, we’ll be rewarded with life, righteousness, and honor, and we’ll be proud when our children turn out just like us.
When we live like Christ, we can be sure our example is one we’re proud for our children to follow.
