Your Plan in God

A baby has no plans, not that we can ascertain.

They arrive as blank slates. They have no backstory. They aren’t weighed down with the baggage of family history or disgruntled relationships.

They don’t have an agenda, and they depend on their family to begin to shape their environment to enable them to achieve success.

What is success? At two, to be able to walk. At five, ride a bike. At thirteen, enjoy sports. At sixteen, get their license and borrow the family car.

Yet, when starting out, the baby knows none of that. And still … they don’t worry about two or five, thirteen or sixteen. They accept that if they don’t have a plan, you as their parents do.

Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God operates in the same way. He doesn’t need us worrying about next month, next year, our retirement or any of the rest of it. Instead, he tells us:

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.’

Just as a parent wants the best for their baby, so God wants the best for his children, and he intends to guide us down that path.

Welfare … not evil. God will provide our needs, not place tripwires along our path.

We can look forward to adventures in our walk with him. Walking with confidence. Leaping aboard our first bike, then our first car. Becoming proficient at whatever we want to involve ourselves in.

God offers us a future and a hope. We just need to take that first step, get on the bike, join the team, learn to drive the family car. We can do it, and God is leading us along the way.
