What’s the worst that could happen? we ask.
Is the sky going to fall in?
Do we think we’re going to arrive, and our home won’t be there?
Do we seriously think anyone would actually break in and steal …
Well, actually, YES!
Bad things happen. The flood wipes away our house. The tree falls on our car. The investment we were so confident in turns out to be a pyramid scheme.
And then we find our car window broken, and all the Christmas presents inside are gone as if they never were …
God! Where were you?
Here’s what he wants to say:
Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth:
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
We find this passage in Isaiah 43:18-19 in the NKJV of the Word. While there are seven lines, it breaks into three principal concepts.
Concept No. 1:
Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
This concept says that things in the past are in the past. We cannot change them, and the best option is to let them go. Forget them. As this says, we shouldn’t even remember that they happened.
Concept No. 2:
Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth:
Shall you not know it?
There’s something new on the way. It’s about to spring forth. We may not have in hand; it may not be actualized yet; but we are on the cusp of greatness that only requires that we have faith in him.
Concept No. 3:
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
God will make provisions of the most astounding kinds. Our house, our car, our investment … that empty bank account? He will fill it. Who builds a road in the wilderness? God does! Who raises a river in the desert? God!
Our troubles are our wilderness. When we struggle, we are in a desert situation. God will resolve our wilderness and our desert situation.
All we need to do is place our trust in him.
Now is the time. Let’s start today.
