Dancing in the Lord

Dancing.

Here’s the aspect of dancing I want to discuss today: Cruise ship dancing.

They know how it’s done. Shows, with elaborate routines, even costumes that are out of this world.

Yet, it’s not the dancing that interests me, but the where and the when.

See, underneath the dancers’ feet, beneath the floor of the stage, and underneath the hull of the ship are thousands of feet of seawater doing its best to swallow up the dancers as they twirl and sing on the ship’s stage.

And the dancers pay it no mind.

Seawater? Bah! Thousands of feet of it? Even less concerning. They have a ship, a hull of iron, and they intend to dance the night away.

Proverbs 3:5–6 tells the Christian:

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.”

In other words, dance in the Lord. Trust in him. He is the ship that carries you though the hardships of life, the hull of iron that keeps you afloat over the deepest sea.

Even when trouble surrounds and batters you, you are encased in the Lord, and he will allow no harm to come your way. The lights are on, the HVAC system heats and cools you, and after the dance, you still have the midnight buffet to enjoy. The storm outside? Bah, we have the Lord, and we have no reason to pay the storm any mind.

Trust in Jesus today. He is the one who protects you in and through every storm.
