The Why of Christ

Explanations. How things work. The why of the world around us. We all want to know the reasons behind it all.

An Internet story revealed a woman’s amazement when she watched an enlarged video detailing how a ballpoint pen works. It may seem obvious to many of us, but she’d never envisioned an actual ball bearing rolling around on the paper and depositing a small line of ink wherever it touched.

Explanations. How things work.

Take salvation. The Bible. God sending Jesus to be born in a manger. We want to understand the reason behind it all.

1 John 3:8 is the salvation story under a magnifying glass, the core of Christ’s purpose enlarged for all to see.

“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”

Notice the opposites presented in this verse. The devil sins. The Son of God (Jesus) smashes the devil’s sinful works.

That’s how Jesus works. That’s the why of Christ: to shake the world, revitalize the good that God originally intended for his creation, and to wipe away the evil that the devil does on this earth.

Story told. Example given. Christianity explained. Jesus justified. All glory to the name of the Father who sits in heaven and reigns over all creation.

You can become his child. Jesus loves you and wants salvation to be yours. Then you, too, can stand by his side and smash evil in the mighty power of his holy name.
