Fire escapes are synonymous with city life.
We live out our days within our four walls, with people above and below us, and their lives rarely impact ours.
But sometimes they do.
In 2018 in Melbourne, Australia, a man flooded 18 stories of a high-rise by turning on more than a dozen fire hydrants. Guests and residents scurried from the flooding building like rats from a sinking ship.
Yikes, that’s how we feel sometimes! Fire escapes, handy even when there is no fire.
1 Corinthians 10:13 in the NKJV gives us a good example of fire escape living:
“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
Is your life pouring misery onto your head? You have a fire escape.
Has someone else flooded you with grief? God says you will withstand the deluge.
Do you feel you are facing more than you deserve? Every trial has been endured before.
God is faithful. When you feel that your four walls are about to crush you, step out on the fire escape. Breathe the air. Take in the view. Then, when you have connected once more with the Heavenly Father, you can plunge back in, stronger and more determined than ever.
You are stronger than you know, and God will stand with you through every moment of your day.
