The Amazon is the mightiest river in the world. It has over 1,100 tributaries feeding twenty percent of the world’s fresh water into its depths.
Yet, the Amazon is only one small finger on God’s hand, for with all the Amazon’s power and strength, it can only flow with the explicit permission of the great Almighty.
In Zechariah 6, the prophet received a vision of God’s mighty power. In Verse 5, an angel spoke to Zechariah, revealing to him the four spirits of the heavens, all of which come directly from God’s throne. They do not draw to God’s throne. They emanate from God’s throne, for he is the same God who is Lord of all the earth and the heavens that surround us.
God is our headwaters. It is from the God of all creation that we find life, and without him, we are no more than lowly creatures wallowing in the muddy trenches. There is nothing that comes to us that does not flow from the throne of God, for in his presence we see all creation gush forth, including the earth and the rivers therein. When we face low times in our lives, we must understand that there is no secondary source of power for us to draw upon, neither is another source needed. When we turn to God with our needs, he will draw us unto him, and he will care for us.
When we place our trust in God, we will find we need no other source of strength. He will become our all in all.
