God’s Very Good Gift

English Audio Version

We love the squeal of delight when we give a gift to a child.

As parents, it warms us inside to know we’ve given our child a moment of joy.

As a grandparent, the feeling is even better. We’ve formed a deeper connection with someone we love. The act of giving is as important as the receiving. We get as much out of the gift as the child who receives it.

Why would God not want to give us his good gifts?

The Word says we are formed in his image. We are modeled after him, our emotions, thoughts, the things that drive us forward.

What gives us joy motivates God, also.

Luke 11:13 tells us:

“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Who’s saying these words?

Is it someone who knows, or is someone shooting the breeze, talking just to fill the time?

In this verse, we find Jesus sharing his heart. He’s taught the disciples the Lord’s Prayer, and now he’s presenting important spiritual lessons to his followers.

Are you seeing this? God’s Son is talking. Jesus knows how his Father feels, reacts, and views humanity.

We are God’s children, and the Father wants to give good gifts to us.

The very good gift from this verse is the Holy Spirit, ready for those who ask.

Step out in faith. Ask for the Spirit to come into your life today. God’s good gift is for you.
