How Important Is Time?

English Audio Version

Age means nothing.

You’ve heard that said by people who are nearing their senior years, and they still feel energetic and vital.

They feel they still have something to contribute to the world around them. They’ve become practiced at what they’re good at, and they want others to learn from them.

Or they just enjoy their position of authority and don’t want to let it go. Maybe it’s fear of being left behind by a world that moves faster than they can run.

God’s Word gives us four vital verses about time.

Psalm 74:17 says:

“You have fixed all the boundaries of the earth; you have made summer and winter.”

Time is in the hands of God. We can’t slow it down or speed it up. He created us to enjoy our youth and progress into our gray-haired years. Today is the important one. Take advantage of it.

Mark 13:28 says:

“From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near.”

God gives us markers in our lives. We can’t afford to overlook them. We should accept the stages in our lives as God’s gifts unto us and enjoy each one.

Proverbs 6:6-8 says:

“Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.”

We can’t afford to ignore the future. We live in today, but we must prepare for tomorrow. That includes our education, our social interactions, and our financial preparations for our senior years.

Luke 21:33 says:

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.”

When we’re unsure what’s coming next, we can trust in the Word of God. Look to it for reassurance. Study it for beneficial life lessons. Use it to build your faith in the Master, for he is your rock no matter the storms that come your way.

How important is time? Does our stage of life really matter? When we’re wrapped up in the work of Jesus, not at all. God has things under control. All we need to do is walk arm-in-arm with him.

Today is God’s day. Let’s be glad we get to enjoy it.

When we're looking ahead, we'll no longer be able to see the troubles we've let roll off our shoulders.
