Jesus Knows Your Heart

English Audio Version

What have you done for the Lord lately?

Taught a Sunday school class? You can do it. Seriously, you can.

How about the church lawn? You do own a lawnmower, right?

Or offering a ride to a senior citizen, have you tried that? It’s easy. Just stop by on the way to church.

“But . . . but, I write a check every week. That’s my part in the church.”

Is it, really? Writing a check is easy. What about the hard things, the ones that take your time, energy, and patience?

What about the things no one else thinks to do . . . even when you’re not the expert?

God sees the intent of your heart, not the skill of your hands. He wants you to be dedicated to him, not polished and perfect.

Mark 5:31 gives a glimpse of how Jesus viewed the people around him.

“And his disciples said to him, ‘You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, “Who touched me?”’”

The story is from the woman with the issue of blood. She needed the touch of Jesus in her body, and she had faith born of desperation and utter confidence.

Luke 8:45 says it slightly differently.

“And Jesus said, ‘Who was it that touched me?’ When all denied it, Peter said, ‘Master, the crowds surround you and are pressing in on you!’”

Jesus knew the intent of the woman’s heart. In her touch, he felt her faith and her desire to be healed. Her trust in his power and her confidence in him allowed his healing power to flow.

So, what have you done for the Lord lately? It’s action that Jesus wants, not shined shoes and wide lapels.

Your faith is found in your footwork more than in the checks you write.
