Royal titles are hereditary.
Once you’re in the family, you’re in line for the throne.
Our spiritual king is Jesus. His Father is the Lord of all creation.
We who believe in his name are the sons of God. (John 1:12)
We are also the brothers of Jesus. (Matthew 12:50)
When we place our faith in Jesus, we are in line to inherit the throne of Christ as co-ruler of the heavens and the earth.
Revelation 3:21 reveals the promise of Jesus:
“The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.”
There’s one caveat to our promise of kinghood, and it’s found in the first four words of this verse. We must maintain our faith in Christ and live an overcoming life of purity before him. Then we will join him to rule forever.
Jesus will gift us a crown when we stand at his side in the by-and-by.
