Road Signs

English Audio Version

Life’s road signs are hard to decipher these days.

Do we work long hours to provide for our family, or is it better to live moderately to spend time with our kids?

Do we invest our money, stockpiling enough to weather a financial downturn? Or should we do as the early church and sell everything to give to the poor?

Perhaps our choices are closer to home. Do we forego marriage to dedicate our lives to Christ, or commit to a partner who will consume our time and energy?

Then there are the little things: cigarettes, wine, popular TV shows, and even participation in Halloween and other holidays.

At what point do we decide on one choice and give up the other?

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us we have someone we can turn to for advice.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

God is our drivers’ ed manual. He’s the one who directs us one way and not the other. When we spend enough time in him, the road signs will become perfectly clear.

When our eyes are on Jesus, we’ll have no confusion in where we walk.
