Our HOT God

In this world we strive for security. We install alarms in our houses; we live in gated communities; even our phones require security codes to gain access to our calls.

We feel powerless when our attempts at security are swept aside by criminal hands. We have been violated, and often we never manage to regain that sense of trust we knew before.

How secure are we in our Christian walk? We have to rely on the God we serve, for the Word tells us we serve a HOT God who can protect us from those who would come against us.

Let’s look at our HOT God:

H – He is the most HIGH God, the one who possesses the heavens and the earth and all the abundance therein.

In Genesis 14:19-24, when Melchizedek, king and priest of the most HIGH God, blessed Abram, he told him God would deliver his enemies into his hands. Empowered with the Word of the Lord, Abram refused any help of the king of Sodom, and the Lord made Abram rich.

When we raise our eyes to our most HIGH God, we will lose sight of our worldly enemies.

O – He is the ONLY begotten Son of the Creator of the universe.

In 1 John 4 we read a list of attributes that describe those who follow in the steps of Jesus. Verse 9 tells us God sent his ONLY begotten Son that we might live through him.

There is none other who can bring us a chance for eternal life, for without God’s ONLY Son, we have no way to measure up to God’s expectations of us.

T – He is the THUNDER in the storm.

The book of Psalms reveals much about the nature of God. He is the tender lover and the soft grass upon the hills. However, in Psalm 77:18, his voice is the THUNDER in the heavens; his lightnings devour the world; the very soil trembles and shakes.

There is no weakness in our God. When the devil mocks us with cruel taunts, we need only listen to the voice of our God, for his words of THUNDER drown out the sniveling derision of the devil’s despicable wiles.

There is only one God, and his mighty voice of power drowns out the vile murmurs of the evil one who would try to bring us down.
