Our Way Out of Trouble

Getting socked in happens to everyone.

It’s like a Nor’easter. When it hits, it affects every home and business. Or it’s like a Blue Norther, or a hurricane. Once the weather warnings sound, no one is safe.

That’s life. It happens to everyone. Rich or poor, married or single, young or old. We get life every single day.

It also means we get the Nor’easter, and there will be times in life when the weather blows so hard, we can’t open our doors, and we can’t go outside. We’re socked in for the duration.

Psalm 34:17 says someone is listening:

“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.”

Psalm 107:6 bases our trust in God on historical evidence:

“Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.”

Psalm 50:15 reminds us to show gratitude to God:

“And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”

Psalm 34:4 tells us the first step is to seek him:

“I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”

When getting pounded by life, stress isn’t an additional worry that provides any benefit. The pounding will happen. 2 Samuel 22:2 moors us in the midst of the storm:

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer.”

Life will happen. How we deal with it is determined by our faith in God.

Excerpt of the Day

Disbelief is fine. Refusing to move past it when confronted with the truth cuts God to the quick.
