During World War II, Adolph Hitler led Nazi Germany in an attempt to conquer all of Europe. He was nearly successful. He received a boon when the British army was evacuated at Dunkirk. The war materials used by the British couldn’t be taken with them, and it was left to the German war machine as spoils of battle.
Hitler laid claim to factories and resident populations, too. French factories in the Occupied Zone churned out Nazi war machines as fast as they could be produced.
There was nothing Hitler wouldn’t claim for his own as he ran rampant across the civilized world. It was all spoils left by the enemy, and it was his to use in any way he saw fit.
What has our spiritual enemy taken from the members of Christ’s Church? Our self-respect? Our children? Our spouse? Our finances? Our health?
Acts 13:19 tells us:
“And when [God] had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he divided their land to [Israel] by lot.”
The spoils of battle are what God takes from the enemy and gives to his children. It’s ours by right of association with God our Father in heaven.
Acts 7:11 tells us:
“Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.”
Is this where we’re at today? Are we in the seven years of famine, and all we can see is our hunger?
Acts 7: 17 tells us:
“But…the time of the Promise drew near…”
Just receiving the promise didn’t bring an answer to the Israelites’ problems. Rather, things got worse before they got better. Another king came to power, and he forced the Israelites into slavery.
However, God was about to go to battle, and the spoils of war would soon be divided among his children.
Acts 7:36 tells us:
“[God] brought them out, after that he had showed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt.”
God’s wonders are all about us. We hear of healings, revivals, and great movements of faith in foreign lands. His demonstrations are only the beginning of the end of our captivity by the spiritual rulers of this world.
We read in Exodus 12:36 in the New Living Translation:
“[The Children of Israel] stripped the Egyptians of their wealth!”
By the end of WWII, Nazi Germany had everything she’d taken stripped from her. When God returns for his own, the devil will have everything he’s taken stripped from him. Our time of victory is upon us, and the spoils of battle will soon be ours.
God will honor our faithfulness unto him with an outpouring of riches beyond measure, for all things are his to do with as he pleases.
