Our ROSE God

Flowers are God’s blessing to summer. They bloom fragrantly and enrich our lives.

However, some blooms are tender, requiring just the right shade and the perfect amount of water. What blooms when the sun scorches the earth and the heat is intense?

The rose.

Put a rosebush in the shade, and it will grow spindly and produce few flowers. Overwater it, and it will develop blackspot, and the roots will wither away.

God will bloom in our lives when we face the harshest of conditions. When the sun bears down on us, and the frequent rains dry, we may cry unto him for relief. However, instead of giving us shade, he blooms in us, a rose for the world to see, and a delight for those who search for answers in their lives.

Let’s look at our ROSE God:

R – He is the RISEN savior, lifted from the barren soil of death to flower before the entire world.

Matthew 28:6 tells the story of the angels at the tomb. How much more barren could life get? Yet, they cried, He is RISEN!

When we are at our lowest point, remember, even death could not stop our King.

O – He is the OVERCOMER against all the destruction of this world.

Revelation 12:11 reveals the truth that comes from Jesus’ death, for it is by his blood that the saints OVERCOME the torments of the evil one.

When we feel the rains of spiritual relief will never fall again, remember our examples from the Word. Jesus gives us all power, even to bloom for him in the vilest of situations.

S – He is the SEED from which all of creation grows.

Matthew 13:31-32 describes the exponential growth of faith in God. The mustard seed is the smallest of SEEDS, and it grows into a massive plant. One other thing: It will die if it is not rooted in a location that is hot and dry.

Our faith grows only when the rains dry and the sun beats on us. Otherwise, we are only shade-tolerant flowers that are too tender for the realities of life.

E – He is EASY on us when we feel our trials are at their worst.

Matthew 11:30 is our promise that he understands when the sun beats down and the soil under our feet dries. He says his yoke is EASY and his burden is light.

God will provide. He does not expect the impossible of us. The rose does not have to strain to bloom. It just does, and in the harshest of conditions.

When we wrap ourselves completely in God’s care, we will bloom wherever he places us. He knows just where we belong.

God sets us in the hard places so that his blooms show up the most vividly.

Excerpt of the Day

Disbelief is fine. Refusing to move past it when confronted with the truth cuts God to the quick.
