Miracle of the Heart

What does the Bible say? Strangers that we meet might be the angels who are testing our commitment to our Christian principles.

Hebrews 12:2 tells us:

“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

In late December of 2013, Officer Jackie Selinger of the San Francisco Police Department took that verse to heart, according to ABC7 News.

While patrolling her beat, Selinger passed a homeless woman holding a sign pleading for shoes. Her heart was touched, and she invited the woman to a local shoe store. Using money from her own pocket, Selinger bought the woman a pair of all-weather boots to help her survive the cold winter’s nights.

Who are the strangers you bump into? The crying child in the store? The elderly gentleman struggling with his lawnmower? The lost tourist on the street corner?

“For thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

Let’s show the love of Christ to everyone we meet, even when it requires us to open our pocketbook to meet their need.
