Seeing the World Through New Eyes

English Audio Version

Who we are affects how the world appears to us.

Take a family on the way to Disney World. The children see stars and sparkles. The parents? The lines for the rides, the cost of the tickets, and parking when they arrive.

How about the future? A healthy person sees plans put into play, and they have no trouble with an endgame years away.

Someone seriously ill sees today and tomorrow, maybe not much past that. They don’t have a lifetime to fill. Today might be their last.

Parents see their children, and it affects every decision they make.

Bosses are wrapped up in profits.

Teachers see educational value.

Ministers see relationships.

What does God want us to see?

Matthew 9:28-30 says:

“When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, ‘Do you believe that I am able to do this?’

“They said to him, ‘Yes, Lord.’

“Then he touched their eyes, saying, ‘According to your faith be it done to you.’ And their eyes were opened …”

Jesus wants us to open our eyes and see him. His work. His plan for our lives.

How do we learn to see the world through our newly opened eyes? How can we find Jesus in the world?

First, we spend time reading and studying the Word of God.

Second, we set aside a portion of each day to focus on God in prayer.

It’s when we’re wrapped up in Jesus that we begin to understand his vision for humanity. We draw close to him, he touches our eyes, and we see as he sees.

The world is our harvest, and it’s time for us to gather.

Jesus needs us to reach the world for him. Today is our day.

Excerpt of the Day

Jesus is our number one authority, and the only thing he tells us to do is love one another.
