Staying on Our Toes

Social media is what modern business is all about. Last year over 300,000 new books were released by publishing houses. Another 300,000 were published via independent platforms. Rochelle Carter of Bowker’s selfpublishedauthor.com says it’s impossible in today’s market to publish without a presence on social media.

We have to stay on our toes, or we’ll be caught in the backwash and wind up in the shallows.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 tells us to get busy:

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might…”

This verse goes on to say that our lives will be over soon, and in death, we can no longer take care of our earthly business.

Acts 2:22 points to a busy Jesus:

“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know―”

Jesus was a social media freak. He was out there, getting both positive as well as negative feedback. What we miss out on was that he was creating a stir in his world. No one missed out on the message of Jesus.

1 John 5:5 tells us how to become a social media master:

“Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”

Through the strength of Jesus, we will trumpet the truth of his salvation message on the cross to everyone who’s dialed in to our frequency.

Joel 2:28 reveals the viral message of Christ taking social media by storm:

“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.”

Rochelle Carter is correct. If we don’t get the message of Jesus out to those we interact with every day, the church is dead in the water. We’ll remain in the shallows, stagnant and putrefying unto death.

If we want to spread the Word, let’s stay on our toes and proclaim Christ to all the world.

If we’re not social, we’re not sharing the message of Christ, no matter how righteous we think we are.
