“So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’” — Hebrews 13:6 (ESV)
Mountains. What a treat! And to spend the day on the slopes? It's a skier's dream.
Imagine that's you. Now, imagine entering the lodge and gathering around the fireplace. As we get ready to wind down from a full day on the slopes, take a moment to think about what it means to live fearlessly. Hebrews 13:6 reminds us that because God is our helper, we don’t have to live in fear of what others think, what tomorrow holds, or even what challenges we face. That’s real confidence—not just in ourselves, but in the One who never leaves our side.
Sports Example #1: Taking the Shot
Imagine a basketball player with seconds left on the clock. The game is tied, and the pressure is on. Some players freeze—but the ones who rise to the moment are the ones who know they’re not alone. They trust their coach’s voice, remember their training, and step up. That’s how it is with God—He’s our coach, our helper, always calling out from the sidelines, “You’ve got this. I’m with you.”
Sports Example #2: Facing a Bigger Opponent
Think of a small-school football team playing a much larger, stronger team. Everyone doubts them. But they play with heart, unity, and faith. They don’t let fear control them. In the same way, we might face situations in life that feel too big—anxiety, peer pressure, family problems—but God’s promise still stands: You are not alone, and you don’t have to be afraid.
Sports Example #3: Learning Something New
Just like hitting the slopes for the first time, life can feel scary when you’re trying something unfamiliar. You might fall, get embarrassed, or doubt yourself. But when you remember that God is your helper, it gives you the courage to try again—and grow.
So tonight, rest in this truth: You don’t have to face anything alone. With God as your helper, you can live bold, play hard, and walk without fear.
Be fearless—God’s got your back!
