Finding Our Christian Satisfaction

The Rolling Stones is a rock band with little visible connection to Christianity, yet one of their songs finds its way into today’s post.

If we write, “Can’t Get No Satisfaction,” we are likely to recognize the tune from which it comes.

The Rolling Stones might not have been able to “get satisfaction,” but that’s not true of the Christian. The Bible tells us just how it’s done.

Psalm 1:2 says:

“His delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.”

Note the word delight. Merriam-Webster helps us with this word:

A high degree of gratification or pleasure.

Or:

Something that gives great pleasure.

How do we learn the law of the Lord? Does it come by divine lightning strike? A holy thunderbolt of knowledge from God above?

We discover the law of the Lord in the Word. To mediate on it, we must know what it is. The knowledge of the law of the Lord comes by our time reading and studying the Bible.

Then we think on how it applies to our lives and how we can fulfill our mandate to live a life that emulates Jesus.

To live a life modeled on the Master … there is no greater satisfaction available to mankind.
