God is all about the future. He wants us to leave the broken bones of the past behind and move forward in him to a brand new thing.
In Part 1, we learned that we must first immerse ourselves in the Scriptures. Only then can we know his plans for us. Second, we must also forget the past. It will pull us back, and we will never move forward.
Here are our final three steps in finding God’s New Thing for our lives.
Journal Everything that Comes to Our Mind.
Write down his blessings, and list the supernatural ideas he gives us as we immerse ourselves in his Word. Get a notebook and keep it at our side when we are in prayer.
There is no limitation to God, and he can birth a new idea in us. We have to forget the past and move forward into God’s new ideas, writing down and journaling what he’s talking to us about.
He can bring ideas to our minds we’ve forgotten, returning them sevenfold. When we write them down, they will begin to spark other ideas, also.
Proverbs 6:31 tells us that the thief must repay what he has stolen sevenfold. The devil is a thief that has stolen God’s ideas from us, and God will return them sevenfold.
Find Godly Mentors.
Proverbs 14:7 tells us to stay away from a foolish man, for we will not find knowledge on his lips.
Give some thought to the people we listen to. The Word says there is wisdom in the multitude of counselors. If we need to know about real estate investments or business ventures, we need to talk to people who can show us how to do that. Don’t talk to people who are broke, who’ve never had a successful business.
The same is true of spiritual matters. Find a saint of the church, one who walks in the light of the Lord, and who lives out a Biblical testimony in his or her everyday life.
To have a sound marriage, look for those who have thirty or fifty years under their belts, for they know the secret of relational success. Don’t talk to someone who’s on his or her third or fourth go round.
You need to get some mentors who can help you, not help you fall into their same defeat.
Never Give Up.
The only way we lose is if we give up. Don’t sit down, back up, back down, or doubt the things God wants to do in our lives.
2 Chronicles 15:7 says it best. “Be brave and do not give up, for God will reward you.”
God wants to do a new thing in our lives. Our victory is assured. He is going to birth a new idea in us. So, journal, find a godly mentor, and never, never give up.
Be filled with expectation and anticipation about the new thing that God wants to do in our lives. If we can get these five things down in our spirit, they will bless us. God wants to do a new thing in our lives, but he can’t do it if we’re holding on to the past.
