2 Spiritual Guides in the Night

English Audio Version

Try driving home with no headlights.

It’s a risky thing to do. We chance one of two outcomes, either we are stopped and given a ticket, or we crash head on into a car that didn’t know we were coming.

It happens more often than you think.

A TV motoring show decided to test the survivability of crashing head on at sixty miles per hour. Only the car with airbags showed any chance of surviving.

Then they did the same test at 120 MPH (Crazy!) into a concrete barrier, and the car was compacted.

We need headlights, sensors, and warning lights to keep us safe when driving at night.

We can also crash spiritually without God’s guidance.

Psalm 16:7 says God gives us 2 Spiritual Guides in the Night.

“I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me.”

We don’t have to strike out blindly in our journey with Jesus. Our Christian walk isn’t completed by feel or touch. We don’t need to make our best guess on how to live.

We have the hand of the Lord guiding us along the way.

Our 1st Spiritual Guide:

God is our GPS signal. He tells us to turn here, avoid that, and beware, accident ahead. We know just where to head when we’re guided by God.

Our 2nd Spiritual Guide:

God gives us a conscience for a reason. It’s our automatic warning system, our adaptive cruise control. It slows us down when our situation gets dicey and warns us of incoming danger.

We are safer when we’re traveling with God. He is at our side to help us navigate every curve, mountain road, pothole, and engine problem along the way.

God lights our path when we place our full confidence in him.
