Little Eyes, Be Careful What You See

Our eyes are the windows to our souls. Just as with any window, it’s up to us to decide if the blinds are open or closed.

Our ears are the same. What we hear becomes part of who we are. Gossip, vulgarity…they insinuate themselves inside just by listening.

Our tongues, our hands, and our feet are opportunities for saying the wrong thing, or stepping down the wrong path.

Matthew 5:28 says:

“But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

Little eyes, be careful what you see…

Romans 1:29 says:

“They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips…”

Little ears, be careful what you hear…

Ephesians 4:29 says:

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”

Little tongues, be careful what you say…

1 Corinthians 6:18 says:

“Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.”

Little hands, be careful what you do…

Matthew 28:18-20 says:

“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’ ”

Little feet, be careful where you go…

The windows to our souls let light through both ways. We can see outside, and those around us can see us. The difference is how brightly our light shines. If we’re filled with the brilliance of Jesus, nothing evil can shine through our glass. Instead, the darkness that surrounds us will be illuminated by Christ’s love.

It’s all about filling up with Jesus and leaving no room for sin to find its way inside.
