Rewired for God

Older homes, no matter how polished their windows or classic their architecture, have one inherent flaw in today’s modern world. They are not wired for the information age.

We have TVs in every room, two in some. Our laptop requires one outlet, our printer another, and we have multiple tablets, phones, and portable hard drives, all which have to be plugged in.

Then there’s information exchange, from cable television signals to the data transfers that surge through our CAT-5 high-speed Internet cables. It’s vital to have data cables in every wall of our home. Without them, our video game systems and audio playback devices will suffer both in speed and quality. We will be deaf and unresponsive to the world, stumbling over our wires and missing important messages that could very well determine if we are a success or a failure in life.

We have to rip out the walls of that classic Italian Renaissance mansion and ready it for the modern world.

Spiritually we come into existence wired for Life Before Christ. We have carnal wiring, the knob and tube stuff that worked when it first came on the market because it was the only thing available. It won’t handle the Jesus Data Transfer, though, and we have to rip out the walls of our carnal man to create our updated spiritual man.

Joshua 10:1-43 tells that Adoni-zedek, king of Jerusalem, learned of Joshua destroying Ai. He went to the kings surrounding him and together they made war against a city of Israel to exact revenge. Yet, Adoni-zedek and his supporters were utterly destroyed.

Verse 14 says:

“The Lord heeded the voice of a man, for the Lord fought for Israel.”

Adoni-zedek was wired with knob and tube, and his information failed him. Joshua was rewired for God, and he had a direct line to the Father. We read that Joshua spoke to the Lord in that day, and God stepped onto the scene and did all that Joshua asked of him.

Deuteronomy 28:1-68 is all about being rewired for God. The passage starts off describing the benefits of installing CAT-5 high-speed Internet cable in our lives. We will receive blessings, our enemies will be defeated, and we will abound in prosperity; and all because we have a direct line of communication with God.

However, without that wiring in place, Verse 15 begins a list of curses that will befall us. Our incomes will fade away, sickness will be our companion, and our enemies will pursue us until they defeat us.

If we are rewired for God, we will know him intimately, and we will respond to every nuance of his instructions. If we try to serve him with the knob and tube of our carnal man, our prayers will fail us, and we will not understand the true heart of God.

Jesus came to offer us his CAT-5 cable, to gift us a total remodel, to rip out our carnal walls and fill us with God’s total rewiring package. We can live Life After Christ, totally attuned to God.

LBC. LAC. Which will we choose? We need an infusion of high-speed JDS if we are to be successful in our Christian walk.

Revelation 1:7 tells us:

“Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.”

We will be ready only when we are rewired for God.

In the moment of our salvation, God begins rewiring us for high-speed communication with him.
