There is no greater commitment that a couple can make than to pledge themselves to one another. Others might not understand, seeing him as a wild card, and her as too beautiful, but it is not what others think that counts. Rather, it is a connection that is unseen that bonds them together.
He wants a new truck, and she willingly gives up her dream for a picket fence. She hopes for Disney World, and he lets his fishing trip run through his fingers like fine sand, forgotten. What one desires, the other wants to give.
Nothing else matters to them, and they see no one except each other. They are committed to one another, totally, and with nothing held in reserve. In their love, they have no trouble at all remaining faithful to their vows to love, honor, and cherish.
She is a heavenly vision to him, and he is her knight in shining armor. They cannot be broken apart.
King Agrippa was well versed in Jewish law. Paul was in custody, a wild card, a man who had once attempted to decimate the burgeoning Christian faith, and now he championed it as his own. They came together at Caesarea in the presence of Festus, the governor of the region.
Agrippa asked Paul to speak of why he was bound.
This was Paul’s opportunity to tell of his conversion experience, of why he went from adversary to adherent, of why he made a commitment to follow the Christ.
The core of his story can be found in one verse. Acts 26:19 relates Paul’s words:
“Whereupon, O king, Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision...”
It did not matter to Paul that others did not understand his immediate and total conversion to Christ. It did not matter that Paul was a wild card among the Early Church, or that the message of Jesus was too beautiful to behold. What mattered was that in that moment of conversion, a connection was formed, one unseen, that bonded Paul and the Christ together.
Paul wanted to give unto Christ all that the Christ desired from him.
I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision...
Whom we love we treasure, and whom we are committed to, we remain faithful to. We cannot be broken apart.
When we tell others of Jesus, let our words ring with the commitment that our vow will never be broken.
