To be flush with cash means to have more than it takes to meet everyday needs. Much more. It means we’ve got an income that is able to generate vast quantities of wealth, and to do it on a regular basis.
We are rolling in the dough.
We can be flush with other things, too. We might have a large family to shower us with time and attention. Or multiple homes. An extra car. Business opportunities too numerous to tackle them all.
If we are in a position where we have excess, no matter what that excess is in, then when the trials of this world blast us, we are easily able to brush the attacks aside, for we find a level of security in our excess.
We learn to trust our dough.
How does this work spiritually? How can we learn to “trust our dough” in the spiritual world?
In the book of Matthew, a Canaanite woman had a daughter who needed Jesus’ touch. Yet, Jesus said to her:
“It is not right to give you the bread that belongs to the children of Israel.”
Her reply?
“Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from the table of their master.”
This woman was rolling in the dough. She was flush with faith. She knew Jesus could heal her daughter. All she had to do was convince him to help her.
In Matthew 15:28, in paraphrase, Jesus tells her:
“You are rolling in the dough. In your excess of faith, you have found the ability to trust in me. Your prayer is answered. Your daughter is healed.”
When we are rolling in the dough, and we are so filled with faith that we are flush with it, then we can reach out to God, and he will offer his entire kingdom to us, simply because we place our trust in him.
The greater our faith in Jesus, the greater the works he can do through us.
