Our Brain on Christ

In a series of drug-awareness spots several years ago, one of the ads featured a whole egg, comparing it to our brain. Then the egg was dropped, revealing our brain on drugs, a shattered mess.

What does our brain look like on Christ?

1 Peter 5:8 says our brain is a watchful eye, constantly on alert:

“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

Psalm 119:169 says our brain is a baby bird in a nest, crying for food:

“Let my cry come before you, O Lord; give me understanding according to your word!”

Hebrews 13:8 says our brain is a mirror, reflecting Christ the same for all time:

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

Psalm 119:34 says our brain is a good citizen, following the laws of God:

“Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart.”

Matthew 7:7 says our brain is an inquisitive child, always asking questions:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

John 16:13 says our brain is a GPS unit, downloading directions from the Spirit:

“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.”

Isaiah 40:31 says our brain has the wings of an eagle, for in our trust in God, we shall find our strength renewed:

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Go on. Feel free to drop that egg. Our world is filled with Christ, and he will cushion the fall every time. That’s our brain on Christ, fully protected, given wings, and on its way to the Father through Jesus, the Son.

When Christ fills our mind, we’re constantly protected and renewed in him.
