Building the Engine of Promise

How we love the promises of God! Each morning we pull out our Promise Box, and we read the verse for the day.

He loads us up with benefits. Psalm 68:19.

We will prosper as our soul prospers. 3 John 1:2.

Every good thing in the world is ours. Psalm 115:14.

He satisfies our every desire. Psalm 145:16.

He gives us power to get wealth. Deuteronomy 8:18.

He blesses us when we come in and go out. Deuteronomy 28:6.

His blessings make us rich. Proverbs 10:22.

He gives us riches, honor, and life. Proverbs 22:4.

We become the Engine of Promise, wrapped in the assurances of God, naming and claiming blessings along the way. What we fail to consider is that the Engine of Promise was a pile of raw materials at one time, and someone had to put it together in order for it to pull its load over the mountain.

We must build our Engine of Promise with hard work and perseverance so that God’s blessings can become ours.

God’s Word tells us:

We must believe in him. John 3:16.

We must clear our field of stones. Isaiah 5:2.

We must till the soil. 1 Chronicles 27:26.

We must cultivate our fields. Ecclesiastes 5:9.

We must build wells to water our crops. 2 Chronicles 26:10.

We must be sober-minded and watchful. 1 Peter 5:8.

We must drive out the interloper. Genesis 3:24.

We must form the man we want to become from the dust of what we used to be. Genesis 2:7.

Let’s pull out God’s promises and name and claim every one. However, let’s also pull out our gloves, because God is sending us out to earn every promise we receive. God relates our part in the process to growing crops in the field. What he wants from us is to support our fellow Christians and win new souls to the kingdom. Along the way, we’ve relationships to maintain, lawns to mow, and bills to pay.

When we’ve done all that, the promises of heaven will become ours.

God’s promises aren’t without price. We pay the bills with the love we show to our fellow man.
