How Did That Ice Storm Play Out?

English Audio Version

In January of 2026, an ice storm stretched from Texas to the Carolinas. News reports cried, “Yikes! This will be worse than the Storm of 2021!”

An inch of ice. Trees bursting with the cold. As much as two feet of snow.

Don’t drive! Stock up on food! Prepare your alternate heating source! Plan to be without power for a week!

People will die!

One newscaster said, “Even if you are from up north, don’t think you can drive in this. It’s not the same. I’ve lived through derechos, tornados, and hurricanes. Nothing scares me more than ice. Just stay home or you might die.”

People moaned. People groaned. But most people prepared to hunker down.

That newscaster also said, “Be smart and we will get through this. Safe and alive.”

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says:

“In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

I missed work today, but thank you, Father, I am safe and well.

My power went off, but I had cold cuts and bread to eat. Great is your faithfulness.

The mail didn’t get delivered today, but you are still the God of the faithful.

My electric bill hit the ceiling, but I praise you that I could stay warm.

Church was cancelled … you are still the King of Kings!

Here’s the thing: God is faithful in his goodness. Storms will come and storms will go. Stand with God, and through it all, “Be smart and we will get through this. Safe and alive.”

Say with me: God is my deliverer, and I will give thanks through all storms that come my way!

In everything, give thanks to the King of Kings!
