Rejoicing is a pick-me-up that makes any day better.
Here are three examples of pick-me-up rejoicing found in the Book of Acts:
Example No. 1:
“And they, continuing daily with one another in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart.” (Acts 2:46)
Rejoicing is best done with other people. In person, by text or telephone, or even during an online broadcast from your favorite televangelist.
Example No. 2:
“And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is.” (Acts 4:24)
Good news is a time to rejoice! Rejoice for the good news, for the deliverer of the good news, and for the One that makes the good news possible. Just rejoice!
Example No. 3:
“At midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.” (Acts 16:25)
Even when things are as bad as they can get (Paul and Silas were in PRISON), break out the praises. When those who know of your troubles hear you rejoicing, they will be lifted through your example of PRAISE IN YOUR TIME OF DESPAIR!
Praise is for times of good news, but it’s more. When we’re alone, certainly, but also with others, in good spirits and in bad, when the very worst comes our way — it’s time to rejoice in Jesus! We will be lifted into his presence when we do.
