You wake up in the morning with the memory of a dream.
We’ve all done it. The dream, fading but still real. We want to share it before it’s gone, and when we start describing what’s in our mind, we can’t quite get the right words to say what we mean.
There was a wall of curtains, but it was more like smoke.
The water flowed around my feet, but it was more like a river of sand.
I saw three old friends, but I’m not sure they were people I’ve ever really met.
That’s our God! Oh, not the curtains, the flowing sand, or the old friends, but our inability to adequately describe his divine nature. That’s exactly what it’s like when we try to express the truths he’s revealed unto us.
1 Corinthians 2:9 says:
“But, as it is written, ‘What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him.’”
This verse gives us three uplifting takeaways!
Takeaway No. 1:
The most impressive things you’ve seen on this earth … Zowie! What God has for us is so much better!
Takeaway No. 2:
The stories you’ve heard … even this one … will be eclipsed when we get to Heaven!
Takeaway No. 3:
Your biggest dream, the one that explodes in your heart, supersize it! God will when you cross that great divide and he says, “Welcome home, good and faithful servant.”
We can’t confine God. He’s not of us, but he is FOR US!
Whoop, whoop! Our Lord is the best that ever was, is, or ever will be! He’s the best we can dream and even better!
God is the Lord of Creation, and he draws us unto him!
