A brilliant sunrise is the best start to any day.
It’s life returning to a darkened sky, and it lifts our spirit along with the rising sun.
Revelation 7:16-17 tells of the rising of the Son, of the Shepherd that will one day preside over all creation.
“They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;”
Our bodies will change from mortal bodies, subject to famine and drought, to spiritual ones, never to suffer hunger or thirst again.
“… the sun shall not strike them,”
Sunburn, sunstroke, and dehydration will be a thing of the past.
“… nor any scorching heat.”
Our feet will be protected in our travels from the burning ground beneath us.
“For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,”
We are given a guide to watch over us in danger, to provide for us, and to embrace us in our difficulties.
“… and he will guide them to springs of living water,”
Our happiness becomes real, as the sweetest parts of life envelope us.
“… and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
All disappointments and cares are vanquished. Our human condition is changed into one of exquisite tenderness and beauty.
The rising of God at the end of times is the sunrise that will change all creation. The Son will rule with the Father, and those who have come to trust in him will stand at his side.
Our Shepherd arises, and his name is Jesus.
