Summer is for all things outdoors. Whether enjoying picnics, swimming in the creek, or playing BASEBALL, these activities imbue us with life.
Our God gives us the entire summer season to enjoy his creation. Let’s look at our BASEBALL God:
B – He BEGINS the game with a song.
Psalm 40:3 tells us God puts a song in our mouths. When the game BEGINS, all we have to do is open our mouths and sing.
A – He AMBUSHES our opponents with his curve ball.
2 Chronicles 20:22 tells us God sets AMBUSHES for the opposing team. God is the ultimate player, and his skills are unequaled.
S – He STRENGTHENS our arms when we come up to bat.
Isaiah 41:10 says God STRENGTHENS us, holding us up with his hand of righteousness. When we fear the fastball coming our way, God will be our strength, and we will hit it out of the park.
E – He forms the very EARTH that is our ball field.
Genesis 1:10-12 tells us God called the dry land EARTH, and he caused it to bring forth grass. God has total power over what he created, and the very grasses on the field will give our feet firm footing.
B – He BOASTS to the opposing team on our behalf.
2 Corinthians 8:24 tells us God BOASTS about us. He gives us confidence to play out his game plan with enthusiasm.
A – He ARMS us with superior training, bats, and gloves.
Psalm 18:32 tells us that when the other team seems to be gaining ground, God steps in with the best ARMS to win the game. His training is superior, and his equipment is the best available.
L – He LIFTS us on the wings of the wind, and he carries our every hit out of the park.
Job 30:22 tells us God LIFTS us up on the wind, and we will ride on his wings. When we swing the bat for God’s team, he will carry the ball for us, and we will score for him every time.
L – He LIVES in our shouts of excitement as each runner comes home.
Psalm 22:3 tells us that God LIVES in our praises. As the scoreboard reveals our ongoing success, God comes among us, becoming more alive in us as we stand and do the wave; as we stomp our feet on the bleachers; and as we raise our voices in excitement.
There is no greater game than God’s game, and when he plays at our side, the scoreboard is his to control.
