Advertisers like to promote how our world continually grows smaller and smaller. What they’re saying is that our access to the world is getting better and better. What we only heard about a century ago we can enjoy in our living rooms now via television and the Internet.
Still, the electronic experience is not the same at all. To be there in person is to know the real thing. View a documentary on Niagara Falls, and we will be impressed. Stand by the waterfalls and feel the rock vibrate underneath our feet, and we are blown away.
That is our God. When we TRAVEL with him, life is totally different, and we will never see the world the same.
Let’s look at our TRAVEL God:
T – He sits in the TABERNACLE of the Lord.
Hebrews 8:2 tells us his TABERNACLE is one set up by the most holy God, and not a place prepared by man.
When we join him in his holy place, we will know the joy of his everlasting love.
R – He ROARS his coming presence.
Amos 1:2 proclaims the frightful power of God’s spoken word, as he ROARS his vengeance upon the earth.
When his voice rattles our bones, we will be forever changed, for his words are a fearsome force that rewrites the shapes of the mountains above.
A – His ARMOR shines his truth into the night.
Romans 13:12 instructs us to cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.
To stand before the brilliance of God’s presence is to be seared with the awesomeness of his power. We don’t get that from watching it on Discovery Channel.
V – His VISIONS reveal the coming storm that is our God incarnate.
Daniel 7:2 declares the prophet’s VISION from the Lord.
When we receive a VISION from the Lord, we no longer simply understand what God’s plans are for us. Rather, they compel us, because we have been inspired, overwhelmed, and taken by storm.
E – He ESTABLISHES his ways throughout all the earth.
Psalm 99:4 describes the nature of the Father, for he loves justice and ESTABLISHES equity across all the earth.
There is no understanding without God. When he slams the gavel down, the world resonates with his authority.
L – His LIGHTNING illuminates every dark corner.
Job 37:3 is our example of the unrestrained energy God releases with only a word from his mouth, for it spreads throughout the heavens and reaches the corners of the earth.
His brightness blinds our eyes, and in the blinding, we will never see our world the same.
When we travel with God, the world jumps out at us in incredible Technicolor brilliance.
