Sunday Every Day

For the Christian, Sundays have a special feeling. We have time to wake gradually, breakfast can be a leisurely affair, and the entire family is together all day long.  It’s more than that, though. It is the feeling that we are a little closer to God on Sundays than on other days of the week.

What is there not to like about Sundays?

The Word says we can have that Sunday feeling every day of the year. Ezekiel 20:19-20 gives us the steps to enjoy that Sunday experience over and over again.

Step 1: We must give our hearts to God, and make him the Lord of our lives.

This first step seems the most obvious, but we cannot afford to stop here. We still wear our baby diapers at this stage.

Step 2: It is imperative to live by the rules laid out in the Word.

We will only know the rules God has set forth if we immerse ourselves in a Bible reading program.

Step 3: A responsible Christian listens to the directions God gives us when we pray to him.

Set up a prayer closet where we can hear the voice of God. Rarely will he hit us over the head. We have to listen to his still, small voice, without the world’s distractions in our ears.

Step 4: We honor God when we keep the Sabbath holy unto him.

Christ came to us as our day of rest. When we live in his peace and understanding, we keep the Sabbath every day we walk with him.

True, we may not be able to sit down to a leisurely family breakfast every morning of the week. However, if we walk in Christ’s footsteps, we will carry the peace of the Sabbath in our hearts everywhere we go.

Christ is honored by our love for him, no matter what day of the week it is.
